Mansa Clinic in Aundh, Pune offers completely confidential sexual health services combining psychiatric evaluation and psychological counselling. Dr. Ninad Baste - with a specialist interest in sexual medicine - and Ms. Taiba Patel address erectile dysfunction, low desire, sexual anxiety, relationship intimacy, and LGBTQ+ affirming care in a private, non-judgmental clinical setting.
A 2021 study in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry found that up to 40% of men and 30% of women attending psychiatric outpatient clinics in Indian cities reported some form of sexual dysfunction - yet fewer than 8% had ever raised the concern with a doctor. The barrier is not the absence of treatment. It is the absence of a place where asking the question feels safe.
At Mansa Clinic, we have built that place. Sexual health concerns are received with the same clinical seriousness as any other medical complaint. There is no awkward silence, no dismissal, and no moralising. Dr. Ninad Baste, whose specialist clinical interests explicitly include sexual medicine, brings a psychiatric perspective to sexual health that most general practitioners and urologists are not trained to provide.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) has both physical and psychological causes - and often a combination of both. Performance anxiety, depression, relationship stress, and certain medications all contribute to ED in ways that a urological examination alone will not reveal. Dr. Baste's assessment identifies the psychological drivers of ED and designs an integrated treatment plan that may include psychotherapy, medication review, and couples-based sexual therapy where appropriate.
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder is significantly underdiagnosed in India - particularly in women, for whom low desire is often normalised or attributed to age, motherhood, or cultural expectation. It is none of these things. It is a recognised medical condition with effective treatments. Our assessment covers hormonal considerations, relationship dynamics, psychological factors, and medication side effects.
Performance anxiety and premature ejaculation are among the most common sexual concerns in younger Indian men - and among the least discussed. Both respond well to a combination of cognitive behavioural techniques and, where indicated, short-term medication. Treatment is typically brief, highly effective, and completely private.
Trauma - whether from childhood abuse, assault, or other overwhelming experiences - frequently affects sexual functioning and intimacy. Ms. Taiba Patel, our trauma-informed counsellor with EMDR training, works with clients navigating this intersection of trauma and sexual health using evidence-based, trauma-specific therapeutic approaches.
Mansa Clinic is one of the few mental health facilities in Aundh that explicitly offers LGBTQ+ affirming care. Ms. Taiba Patel has direct experience supporting individuals exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, coming out, and the specific mental health pressures faced by LGBTQ+ people in Indian social contexts. This is not therapy that 'corrects' identity - it is therapy that affirms and supports it.
Sexual medicine is one of Dr. Baste's listed specialist interests alongside neurocognitive medicine and marital counselling. His psychiatric training from Seth GS Medical College equips him to identify the biological, psychological, and relational dimensions of sexual health concerns - the three dimensions that all need to be addressed for lasting improvement
A Canadian Certified Counsellor with a background in trauma-informed therapy and LGBTQ+ support, Ms. Patel brings certifications in mindfulness, CBT, emotionally focused therapy, and trauma-focused CBT from Canada and the United Kingdom. She is working towards EMDRIA certification for EMDR therapy.
Sexual health appointments at Mansa Clinic are managed with an additional layer of discretion. Appointment slots are structured to prevent waiting room overlap between sexual health and general outpatient patients. All records are stored under standard medical confidentiality protocols. Nothing from your consultation will be shared with family members, employers, or any third party without your explicit, informed consent.
